Sacred groves Auroville is a natural building community where Achitects,students,Interns and volunteers all work together and learn from each other.Following are compilation of my experience there as a volunteering and the works done as a part of the team.
Cob Making
Cob for ongoing construction were made on site with the materials procured within the site.The cob mix consist of Mud and lime in 5:1 ratio with straws and kaduka jaggery water.The cob is mixed and made into cob balls for transportation to the construction area.
Wattle and daub wall partition
Limecrete roof with bamboo formwork
Natural roof constructed with bamboo frames which acts as permanent formwork to hold the limcrete which also provides insulation .The bamboo layer is followed by a layer of damp coir atop which limcrete mixture is applied .Limcrete mixture consist of Lime , surkhi and kadukka jaggery water.

Araish lime plaster
Araish lime plaster is one of the traditional plastering technique of Rajastan.A sample of araish lime plaster using Black Oxide with relief art using dried leaf was carried out on a brick piece.The araish plaster requires brunishing with smooth stone until reflective surface is obtained.
